Are Solar Panel Prices Ever Going To Come Down?

They’ve been around for a long time, it would be nice if ,like other technologies photovoltaic cell cost would slide.

  1. They are coming down and more states are helping with rebates. My break even time frame is about 6 years for my system, it would have been closer to 10 without the rebates. If you consider my system is guaranteed for 25 years, I’ll be getting 19 years of free energy and the electric rates go up at least 5% annually.
There is anothe way to make it more affordable. Several solar companies are offering lease options. Most lease rates are based on your current electric rate. With no up front costs you lock in your electric rate for 20 years.

  2. They have come down lots since they were first made. Probably they are nearing the point where they will take a nosedive in price. In 1992 the newest cell phone that was small as a large wallet was $2000 even though cell phones had been around for awhile. Dropped a little in price since then.

  3. They are going to be coming down. Google has been investing tons of money in solar and now in geothermal. The solar company is making panels that are as thin as paper, and can be make on a printing press.

  4. Don’t think so!The main raw material of solar panel-silicon ‘s price is coming up a lot.It was us$250dollar/KG.Now it is US$400/KG.But in the long run ,i am sure the price will get down as the technology is getting better and better.

  5. its not dat high as of rite now…or is it? if i were u…i woulda called dem guys and ask dem to gimme an estimate and tell dem..we call u guys later…den get 2more guys to give u an estimate..and pick frm da lowest and da best price and product ma frnd =)

  6. Comparatively they are awfully cheap! You save so much money on energy costs. But as more people buy them, the prices will go down.

  7. i dont think they’ll *** down, but u save sooooooo much money by not paying a lot of the electricity and some heating/cooling

  8. well: it depends with ” Green Living they know about
