Learning how to make solar panels isn’t something that hard as many people may think. We’ve researched the market for a while now and came up with one conclusion: Buying ready-made solar panels can be quite expensive in pretty much all markets, whilst people aren’t able to save much these days there are plenty of ways to create your own solar panels right in your backyard.

As you may already know buying enough solar panels to run your off grid home would literally cost you thousands of dollars, and the return on investment isn’t worth it. There’s no reason to worry though, why not learn to make solar panels all by yourself?

It isn’t that difficult as you may think it is. All you need is to buy a few parts such as solar cells, tabbed wire, boards that you can easily find at your local solar parts suppliers.

To be more exact there are five basic things you’ll need to set up your own solar power system. A manual on  how to make solar panels, one sheet of plywood, solar cells, sheets of glass and copper wire (all these should not cost you more than two hundred dollars all together). Some of these you might be able to find at a local garage sale or you might even be lucky and get them for free.

We first found an ebook that all of the fine details could be accomplished. No matter how you take it building you own solar panel is way cheaper than buying one, we have made our first one for no more and no less than two hundred dollars, that way we saved a few thousands  on the first one we made. The manual we have followed literally spoon-fed us all the information and diagrams we needed to properly install the solar panels with ease.

First you need a sheet of plywood and arrange the cells in straight rows along the sheet, it is not that hard even for an 12-yeard old. You will need to drill holes in the plywood board so that all the wires can be drawn threw so that all the cells are connected together. There is nothing to figure out, basically it’s a lot simpler than sewing. Finally all the solar cells will be sealed up using glass, at this point you’re almost done..

Just imagine how much you’ll save by making your own solar panels rather than buying them and not only but how much you will be saving on your energy bills.  We’re making our 200 watt solar panels for around two hundred dollars, it might vary depending on the price you’re getting your solar cells as they’re nearly half of the investment. Anyway a similar 200 watt panel normally sells for one thousands or even more.
