couple of points. If fuses are cheap why not also fuse the negative wire
just in case? You never know when you might get a spike of power on the
wire and blocking diodes can only do so much before they are overrun.
There are also inline breakers in lieu of fuses which means they would
trip and require a manual reset like a home breaker box as opposed to a
consumable that you may run out of.
Secondly you do not have real redundancy. If a charge controller fails you
may have panels you cant use because the combined amperage off the panels
may overload them. This would leave you with roughly half the charging
capability thus you would run your batteries down lower. I still stipulate
that you have a secondary inverter and desulfator capable of handling your
entire load, or can be made to handle it.
Your battery bank is also not redundant. If any battery fails for any
reason you lose storage capacity.
In both instances for real redundancy you would have to have a 2nd entire
set of batteries (preferably with an A/B switch and you could even
alternate days used which can allow for better more battery friendly
charging) and at least enough capacity on the charge controllers so that if
one dies you can still run at full capacity.?
Great vid. but I wish you could have shown us proper grounding for the
system. Thanks!?
What do you do about heat build up and battery gasing??
just one question ,do you know why my inverter does not won’t to work (faul
lamp)when I plug only fridge to 76 AM battery with 100 W Solar panel?
is something not right ?do I need more batteries or what to change to make
it work??
I have a question. In your vid you say that you can also connect the
invertor to you fuse panel box to power your home. how would you wire that?
where do you tie in from the invertor and where would you tie into the
panel box on your house? thanks. ?
Perfect Video !!?
how do you run it to your house without a grid tie inverter??
Thank You for this video and great guidance.
There is one question: You have used a Battery Tender for charging the
batteries when its not getting power from solar panels.
1. For a Online Inverter that has a charger inbuilt, will I require
a Battery Tender??
Very good…….
?
Commercial Solar Panels are too Expensive !!

Very Helpful !! thank you?
Isn’t the purpose of the solar panels and charge controller to keep the
batteries charged??
Like! for the 1 is none 2 is 1 :D?
It appears that your ” BZ 500 MPPT500 Watt PV Charge Controller:” is not
being manufactured any longer. Is there any other you would recommend or us
first timers??
Thanks! This design is really very helpful. But how do you balance the
number of batteries with the number of solar arrays to achieve some
efficiency??
Two questions: 1) how do I tell what gauge wires to use in a system? is
there is forumula or good guide on which sizes to use for which power?
2) how do I know what size circuit breakers to use in line? Just got my
first panel and battery (100W 12V 80Ah) so it’s not important now, But I
plan on expanding.
Liked and subscribed. Thanks!?
are these ANL200 fuses good for 24 volt systems, and why not 150 amp. 200
seems large?
When you series the 12 volt panels you add the voltage to equal 24 volts.
However you do not add the wattage or amperage of the panel when you series
them. Each group of two panels is 24 volts at 220 watts It simply stays the
same. So you could use all four panels on one controller and a total of
eight on you system of two controllers. On a side note if you parallel the
panels ( positive to positive, negative to negative) then the voltage stays
at 12 volts then the amperage will double to 440 watts. Nice diagram and
great idea with the tender and desalinater. ?
Interesting?
Thank you great video.?
I’m not sure. I would recommend calling the panel manufacturer or
controller manufacturer.
This is great and very helpful. I have an off topic question. did you give
the measurements of your rack the you have your solar panels on?
Oh, OK, if you say so. I guess I’d better ignore all the certified tests
and documentation. Thanks for the heads up.
They all have their own ring wire connector. Although a bus bar would be
cleaner.
Nice setup thank for shairing.
