A lot like their own Pittsburgh Tools, Badlands Winches and American General automotive tools, Harbor Freight is expanding their offerings in the solar world…

Okay,? thanks much.
I just posted a relatively comprehensive answer? to your questions in another video. It is also set up as the response video to this one.
I have two? HF Thunderbolt 45w kits. I also bought a HF Thunderbolt Solar 8 Kit/Panel universal solar connector (shown in the video) but have not yet used it to link the two 45w kits. I’m leary to do so fearing the charge controllers which come with the kits might not be able to handle the connection of 2 kits … not to mention 8. Any thoughts?
I have a vid of the HF system on a camping trip. youtube.com/watch?v=pJM__2qUGco It worked great. But I have to agree with 8digit as far as building a large system out of the thunderbolt stuff; it will cost you a lot more? in the long run, and it will be much larger than it needs to be. They’re not even close to the cheapest per watt. But for a small portable or backup system? Can’t beat it.
we don’t have it yet at the store near? my house. Can you make a video of it?
just bought? newest version for $127.
I was planning on just using the kit for camping to run a few things like a radio, some lights, and a small fan. Hopefully it will be all I need for that.?
Don’t get too married into? HF stuff as the basis for your solar power array. They are hard to beat as a standalone set, but you are better off buying more powerful components individually on ebay if you are building a bigger power system. The basic HF kit is a decent starting point through don’t be surprised if you find yourself replacing it all with upgrade stuff.
Just bought one of the new solar kits online. I can’t wait? to see what it’s like. It will be my first solar system.
Those sae connectors works great also,? I purchased like 3 of those packs in the last month. They come in handy, work perfect.
They should be coming out with this 5.5 watt solar kit that comes with led lights also. Should be coming out shortly, under $60 from what I have seen. Ebay has a similar set-up for over $100. I actually purchased a 1.5 solar panel to charge a 5ah battery for my first solar project. I am still waiting on using for 45 watt? solar kit, just need the batteries and I plan on purchasing another kit on their sale in march for $150 using a 20% coupon
Cool, let me see it when you have it. Thunderbolt Solar is a brand new thing out of Harbor Freight. I don’t think any of the stores are fully stocked on it yet, but what they are doing with some of their newer stuff is marketing some of the same proven Chinese stuff that we have already been getting from outfits that sell on Ebay. The description they have on the new 30 amp? 500 watt charge controller with full readout is identical to one I got from ebay.
Thanks for the vid 8digit. I picked up the “foldable” 5 watt you show at 2:32, and I got the battery charger at 3:26. Both are good quality. Our local store also is low on stock but? everything is priced the same as yours. The foldable unit does not come with any cords, just a usb port. I plan on doing a vid review on both soon.
Those connectors are called SAE connectors.?
Nice!?
