I won this 5 watt solar panel in a contest held by Robert Smith which ended at the end of July. I know I’ve had it for a while but finding time and peace to make a small video like this took some time. In this video, I show you how the 5 Watt Solar panel works in charging my USB GPS. I didn’t have anything fancy set up but it does work very well and I use it occasionally to charge USB products, not because I can’t charge it on my computer but because it’s fun and efficient. Thanks to Robert for the solar panel, remember to enter his future contests, you could be the next winner!

plzzzzzzz i want to buy,just test for me how long time will take ipod or mobile to come full charge???????????????????????
@tehranvip I usually receive the full 12v. And not sure how long it’ll take to charge an ipod, But I charge a little 12v battery (used to run a golf cart) in about 9-12 hours. The first time, it took a lot longer because battery didn’t have a charge at all.
And yeah, it’s completely possible. I put mine on a window too 🙂
how much voltage you receive when you put on the window or as i saw you dont have direct sunlight?????how long time will take to full charge your ipod???
because i am living in apartment and i dont have balcony and only at the morning i have direct sun light,i want to put on the window.is this posible to charge my iphone???

@joezbackwith2gatz cool, good luck with that!
I might get a bigger panel as well, I use my current set up to charge a 12v battery but it takes too long lol
@whothehellgivesadamn Yeah I didnt really record with Ozzy. LOL.You are saying you installed solar panels but the solar panels are not saying they were installed by you.
You use caps lock because you want people to look at you.
Here let me ask you. Why did you watch this video if you knew it was only about a 5 watts sytem and you think a 5 watt system is junk? Why would you spend your time in that way?Just to bash on others because you feel like you are the end all expert.
@njoker555 Indeed sir… Some time next month Ill be getting a 15 watt panel and Ill make some videos on my system… Still in the works for now. I really just want a small basic system to learn with. I will be using it for back up for chargin weapon lights other flashlights and some minor home lighting. Once I step up my system Ill just use this 15 watt system for my shed. Thanks for the reply and feel free to check out my channel. Thanks Joe Tactical
@joezbackwith2gatz thanks 🙂 and I definitely agree, we all have to share knowledge – it’ll lead to a better society.
@joezbackwith2gatz WHAT A LAME FUCKING MORON………I’VE MADE MANY SOLAR VIDEOS YOU IDIOT….YOUR COMMENTS ARE NOTHING BUT GARBAGE……..NOTICE HOW YOU SAID, YOU RECORDED WITH OZZY AND OZZY IS NOT SAYING HE RECORDED WITH YOU?…….THAT’S BECAUSE YOU’RE LAME SCUM WITH NO PERSPECTIVES OR CREATIVITY, WHICH IS WHY YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND MY COMMENTS….GET LOST SCUM………YOU ARE REALLY FUCKING TROLL STUPID
@whothehellgivesadamn For someone that has done a lot with solar panels why dont you have any videos? Video cameras are cheap!Anyone can talk the talk.Watch Ill show you.Last year I walked on the moon.Two years ago I made 8.5 million in french franks.When I was a kid I recorded with Ozzy.See talk is cheap but high end solar panels are not.The only thing we know about you is you can type read and talk crap. Those are the facts that you have shown us.So who is the idiot?LOL.Now you can bash on me.
@purplemutantas Indeed…
Great video man and congrats…
Its like I always say… Lets all learn from each other.
Joe Tactical
@whothehellgivesadamn So why did you watch this video if you think 5 watt is junk? This video is called 5 watt. The only reason I can think is because you just wanted to bash on others. We all cant be the solar master like you. Some people have to start some where. We all can learn something from someone else… Its like I always say… Lets all learn from each other. Joe Tactical
OH MY FUCKING GOD YOU CLOWNS ARE GIVING ME A FUCKING HEADACHE…I’VE DONE IT ALL WITH SOLAR, I’VE OWNED SMALL SOLAR LIGHTS, BATTERY CHARGERS, I PUT TOGETHER A REMOTE SYSTEM FOR CAMPING WHICH I USED FOR YEARS AND I’VE INSTALLED MANY SOLAR SYSTEMS ON HOMES AND BUSINESSES….WHICH TYPICALLY RANGE FROM 5 KILLOWATTS TO 100 KILLOWATTS, HOWEVER LARGE COMMERCIAL BUILDING ARE IN THE MEGAWATT RANGE….
ANYWAY DUMBUFCKS FOR PERSONAL USE YOU NEED ATLEAST 50 WATTS….WHAT A BUNCH OF IDIOTS.
@whothehellgivesadamn It all comes down to how you define cheap. I have been looking at higher wattage panels and in my book they aren’t cheap. Of course I am poor. So over $100 isn’t cheap for me. Once I have run more tests on my 3 watt panel, I may upgrade to a 20 watt panel. Or I may just get another 3 watt panel and wire them in parallel. It would be nice if I had the extra cash to drop on a 50 watt panel.
Nice man, glad to see solar in an apartment. Usually the only thing you can have is a flashlight and a candle……Now you can charge your phone and other usb items.
@OTGinNYC thank you 🙂
Good job, brother. It’s a good start. Congratulations. 🙂
@whothehellgivesadamn calm down man. It’s entry level.
OH JESUS FUCKING CHRIST:
1. 5 WATTS IS A TOTAL FUCKING JOKE, NOT WORTH THE WASTE OF TIME
2. A LAPTOP MIGHT TYPICALLY USE 60 WATTS AN HOUR
3. DON’T BRING A PIECE OF JUNK LIKE THAT ALONG TO CHARGE A LAPTOP
4. DON’T USE JUNK LIKE THAT TO CHARGE ANY BIG BATTERY.
5. ABOUT THE ONLY USE FOR THAT THING WOULD BE MAYBE TO CHARGE AAA RECYCLABLE BATTERIES….MAYBE…
6. GET ATLEAST A 50 WATT PANEL MINIMUM. THEY ARE CHEAP NOW.
7. SOLAR SELLS NOW AT AROUND 3 DOLLARS A WATT….
8. HAVE FUN WITH YOUR $15 GIFT
smart little unit, nice
Nice video glad to see it works good for you.TAKE CARE
